Keys to Success Part 1….Get Bloggled

Here at Bloggled we Bloggle about everything from football, to fishing, to art, to charities and really anything under the sun. With this post I would like to focus on information that is applicable to becoming successful and as always we welcome comments and feedback.

I have been involved in a couple of successful businesses over the years and have been fortunate to evaluate and learn from individuals that I believe are very successful. I believe that these individuals all have similar qualities that make them successful. That being said, I want to start a series of entries that will cover keys to success. These keys were derived from business but are not to exclude application in other areas of life.

  • 1. Concern yourself with things that are in your control: This one seems so easy, but in fact is really hard to do. The hard part is distinguishing what is in my control and what isn’t. The way I distinguish it is if I can significantly influence the situation then it is in my control or influence. If not, I can’t. I believe there is enough on everyone’s plate that they have to worry about (have control over) that if they focus on things out of their control then they will never accomplish significant objectives in their lives, especially in their business lives. Those that worry about things that are out of their control, never seem to move significantly forward in their endeavors. They are too caught up on those things that don’t matter and impede their progress while those who move forward focusing on their circle of influence rise to the top.
  • 2. Set goals and become borderline obsessed with those goals: When I set a goal, it isn’t just something I write on a piece of paper (although that is better than just saying it in your mind). It is a vision in my mind that is so clear and vivid that that one vision can be detailed out over 1 – 2 pages. I refer to it as a vivid vision of what you want to accomplish. A goal on paper is good, but a vivid vision of what that goal accomplished looks like is far better. I have heard a saying before that says, “If you don’t have goals, then someone else who does will use you to accomplish theirs”.
