And then there was McCain…Cheer up. Back up your blog!
Yesterday we put out a blog post about Barack Obama and his proposed policies. Now it’s time to take a little better look at John McCain.
Obviously, something needs to change. Maybe it will just take some time before our economy is able to rebound from the events of the summer but I think in addition to just time, we need some action. The last thing that we all want is more of the same bad leadership we have been exposed to for the last while.
From January 2001, until August 2008, John McCain has voted with President Bush 90% of the time. This is well documented through his voting record, his own autobiography, and several television interviews.
One of the important issues of our time is obviously the economy so naturally, we need a leader who is going to takes us in the right, economic direction. We need a leader who understands economics and can engineer, promote, and support good, fiscal policies, right? Well in an interview John McCain had with The Wall Street Journal in 2005, he said he knows a lot less about the economy than he does foreign and military policy issues. He also said to the Boston Globe at the end of 2007 that “the issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should. I’ve got Greenspan’s book.” Are you serious? And in light of the economic status of the country, touting having Greenspan’s book is bad news.
I try and judge people by what they do or what they have done, and not necessarily by what they say they will do. McCain was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War for 5 1/2 years. Before he left for war, he was married to a model named Carol and they had a daughter together. While he was at war, Carol was involved in a terrible car accident which left her mostly confined to a wheelchair. Upon returning from war, he soon started to court a young 25 year old lady named Cindy. At this time, John was 42 years old and soon filed for divorce from his wife Carol and then married Cindy with whom he is still married.
I do not want to be led by a person who conducts themselves in this way. These actions led him to become mostly ostricized from the Regan family who were dear to him. This type of behavior is unacceptable and provides us a glimpse of the true character of John McCain.
After reading yesterday’s post about Obama and this post about McCain, you may find yourself a little depressed. Well cheer up! You can backup your blog for free with Bloggled so your information is never lost.
