Do this, Don’t do that

It seems like everywhere you look online, there are so-called “experts “ and “professionals” willing to provide bloggers with advice on how to maximize their blogs’ potential.
Do this. Don’t do this. The problem is that often, these experts are really not experts at all. Sometimes they are well-intentioned folks that have only a surface level knowledge of blogging. And sometimes they’re just people who need an ego stroke.
Regardless, we thought it would be fun – and funny – to share a couple of the worst bits of blogging advice we’ve heard!
If You Build It, They Will Come
No. No, in fact, they will not. The mere presence of your blog is not enough to draw in a loyal community of readers. In fact, getting such a group of readers together requires a lot of work, much of which actually takes places away from your blog.
But if you want to build it – then ensure that they never, ever come back again – take a tip from Soulja Boy’s not-so-spectacular foray into video blogging:
Find a Topic That Lots of People Are Interested In
At first, this doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. I mean, yeah, your Jon & Kate Plus 8 blog will probably have pretty good success getting some traffic and some readers to it.
The problem is that if you absolutely despise – or maybe just are totally ambivalent to – your topic, the passion will die. You won’t want to keep writing on and on about something that you don’t really care about just because other people are interested in it. If you’re passion is in something obscure – say, for instance, French fries – find a way to make that topic interesting and relevant to a broader audience.
Or, take a tip from this delightful young lady, and make it absolutely relevant to no one:
